Meet Kiarra, Bookseller

Like many other readers, I have the experience of being a lover of books for as long as I can remember. My daydreams, that are fueled by an over-active imagination, are undoubtedly influenced by the amount of books that I read. Further, I attribute much of my understanding of the world and the cultivation of empathy for people and experiences beyond my own to books.

Over the years, I loved the Magic Tree House series, then Harry Potter, dystopian novels and fantasy adventures in my early teens, and the promise of sweet romance in my late teens. Even with the books that have faded from my memory, I know for a fact that reading has always been a safe way to escape from the world and live another life. The genres that currently spark joy are romance, fantasy, the occasional thriller, and sprinkles of non-fiction memoirs.

I was born in Maryland, but spent most of my coming-of-age years in Houston. I tested out the cold weather again by moving to the east coast for college and grad school where I studied cognitive science at Yale and public health at Columbia, respectively. As of right now, I am excited to be back in Houston for the next year before attending law school.

I am thrilled to be joining the Brazos team, and can’t wait to meet all of the book lovers that are part of this community.
