Holdouts II is the second chapter in artist Sarah Welch’s near-future scifi series, “Holdouts.” The story chronicles the daily life of those unable or unwilling to leave the harsh conditions of a shifting Gulf coastline.

This project has been made possible by a grant from Houston Arts Alliance.

Sarah Welch is an artist, illustrator, and comics-maker based in Houston, Texas. She is a regular collaborator with letterpress & risograph print service, Mystic Multiples and is a co-organizer with Zine Fest Houston. Welch has participated in artist residency programs at Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, The MacDowell Colony, Wesleyan University, Lawndale Art Center, and UT Dallas Centraltrak. In 2018 she was awarded a Houston Arts Alliance Support for Artists & Creative Individuals Grant in support of her forthcoming comic project, Holdouts II. Welch’s public artwork, “Commuter” is viewable now through November 2019 on the Main Street Marquee in Downtown Houston at the intersection of Main and Walker.
