Pre-Order Party for Lot: Stories by Bryan Washington

Saturday, March 9, 2019 - 1:00pm
2421 Bissonnet St
Houston, TX 77005

For most people, March means the beginning of spring. For us, March means Bryan Washington month! We are so excited to welcome Houston author Bryan Washington's new book into the world. LOT publishes on March 19, 2019 from Riverhead Books. We think this is the book that will finally give Houston its time in the spotlight, and we can't wait to share it with the world. Therefore, a launch party on 3/19 is simply not enough.

Come party with us the afternoon of Saturday, March 9 to celebrate the upcoming release date and all things Houston. We will have tacos, free drinks, music, and a beautiful window mural celebrating Bryan's book (executed artfully by Alicia Cotto). We will also be going full-speed on our pre-order campaign. Swing by and put your name on a copy to guarantee one will be waiting for you on release day!

Plus, we'll be raffling off a signed copy of LOT and a LOT promo poster! Buy as many $3 raffle tickets as you want, and we'll announce a winner at 4pm. The signed copy will be available for pickup after Bryan's event on release day (3/19).

If you would like to pre-order a copy of LOT at this very moment, you can add it to your cart below.

This event is free and open to the public.

Note: We will also be hosting a launch party for Bryan on the day of LOT's release, 3/19. For details about that event, please CLICK HERE.

More about LOT: In the city of Houston - a sprawling, diverse microcosm of America - the son of a black mother and a Latino father is coming of age. He’s working at his family’s restaurant, weathering his brother’s blows, resenting his older sister’s absence. And discovering he likes boys.

Around him, others live and thrive and die in Houston’s myriad neighborhoods: a young woman whose affair detonates across an apartment complex, a ragtag baseball team, a group of young hustlers, hurricane survivors, a local drug dealer who takes a Guatemalan teen under his wing, a reluctant chupacabra.

Bryan Washington’s brilliant, viscerally drawn world vibrates with energy, wit, and the infinite longing of people searching for home. With soulful insight into what makes a community, a family, and a life, LOT explores trust and love in all its unsparing and unsteady forms.
