Native Houstonian Dr. Samuel D. Axelrad reads and discusses his experience with PEACEFUL BONES. This is the true story of the friendship between North Vietnamese Army Squadron Leader Hung Nguyen - who was seriously wounded during an ambush by US troops in 1967 - and Samuel Axelrad, surgeon and captain of a Forward Medical Command who saved Hung's life.

Samuel D. Axelrad, M.D. is a retired urologist and a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as an army surgeon commanding a Forward Medical Company in the First Air Calvary. He graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and soon thereafter enlisted in the military to serve his country. After his service he moved to Houston, TX where he practiced for over 40 years as an urologist.
