CANCELLED - UH Creative Writing Program Voices Showcase

Friday, August 25, 2017 - 6:00pm
2421 Bissonnet Street
Houston, TX 77005

Houston is the Bayou City, Clutch City, Magnolia City, Screwston, Space City, Sprawl City, The Energy Capital of the World, and, of course, H-Town. It’s a city of bayous and bodegas, a city of sirens and skyscrapers, a city of live oaks and live music and lots of living, working artists, quite a few of whom have made their way here through the University of Houston’s Creative Writing Program, which, year after year, welcomes and nurtures (almost) as many new and original voices as the city has nicknames. Join us as we celebrate a few of these voices and start the new school year off right. Readers include former and current CWP students Conor Bracken, Henk Rossouw, Brenden Oliva, Saira Nadeem, Paige Quiñones, and Novuyo Tshuma.

Writers in the Schools will be hosting a meet-and-greet with the writers at 6pm, before the readings begin at 7pm. Refreshments will be provided.
