Incoming Second Grade

Dear Spectacular Rising 2nd Graders,
We are looking forward to a great 2nd grade year!  We want to encourage reading proficiency and a lifelong love of reading. To help with the transition from 1st to 2nd grade, we have a few summer reading and writing suggestions.  

This summer we would like you to read the following 3 books. We will have whole class and
small group discussions about these books in August when we return to school.  

1. Katie Woo Rules the School by Fran Manushkin
2. Any book of your choice from the Caldecott book list.
3. Any book of your choice from the HAISLN list.
