The Children of Odin is a classic retelling of Norse myths for young adults that I recently came across. It is rare to find a book of myths that is this readable with beautiful imagery and lively characters. The book tells the story of the gods living in Asgard, a paradise that is threatened from its very creation. The book primarily focuses on Odin, the father of the gods, Thor, a constant defender of the gods, and Loki, the mischief maker, but includes a large ensemble of colorful characters. Perhaps the most interesting thing about reading the book was seeing how theses myths share a common ancestor with many other common myths including the Greek myths, Genesis, King Arthur, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings.
