It is fiction, but it reveals the truth behind marathon training programs and the people who set the pace of their lives on the running trail. Alan Anderson has completed sixteen marathons, one ultra-marathon, and numerous half marathons, 10k races, and 5k races. He has coached marathon and half-marathon runners for a dozen years. He lives in Houston with his wife Betsy, who is also a long-distance runner.
