Murakamania Midnight Release Party
Haruki Murakami is the greatest living Japanese author. Period.
Most unequivocal statements prompt rabid disagreement, but this one seems pretty safe. Author of numerous contemporary classics—among them THE WIND-UP BIRD CHRONICLES and 1Q84—Murakami’s new novel, COLORLESS TSUKURU TAZAKI AND HIS YEARS OF PILGRIMAGE is another masterpiece, already receiving acclaim in Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews.
For this reason, we’re excited to host the MURAKAMANIA MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY on Monday, August 11.
There will be Murakami-inspired activities and games (The Wind-Up Bird Piñata! Pin the Kafka on the Shore! The Wild Sheep Count!), the winners of which will have a chance to walk away with a SIGNED COPY of Murakami’s new novel (supplies are limited!). St. Arnold’s will provide the beer, and acclaimed food truck Muiishi Makirritos will provide the munchies. Last but not least, we have our very own WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT COLORING, a one-of-a-kind coloring book created by the Brazos Bookstore staff and free with the purchase of Murakami’s new novel. At midnight sharp, we will begin selling copies of COLORLESS TSUKURU. Make sure to pre-order your copy; we’re likely to run out!
It’ll be fun! It’ll be loose! It’ll be—unlike Colorless Tsukuru himself—colorful!
