  In association with the Progressive Forum, Brazos Bookstore presents Karen Armstrong, “arguably the most lucid, wide ranging, and consistently interesting religion writer today,” according to Salon.com. In The Case For God, her new book, she moves from the Paleolithic age to the present, detailing the great lengths to which humanity has gone to experience a sacred reality, with a focus on the kind of faith that speaks to our polarized modern times. She first gained prominence with her groundbreaker, A History of God: The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (1993). Others have included The Battle for God, A History of Fundamentalism (2000); Buddha (2001); and The Bible: A Biography (2007). Armstrong participated in Bill Moyers’ remarkable series called Genesis on PBS. Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, Armstrong has been in demand as an authority on Islam and religious compassion. She has addressed members of the U.S. Congress, the United Nations, and the World Economic Forum in Davos. Armstrong will greet fans and sign books at the end of the evening.
