Description

First published in 1990, Awake marked the stunning debut of poet Dorianne Laux. This much sought-after collection, introduced by Philip Levine, is now back in print in a handsome new edition. The recipient of two Best American Poetry prizes, an Editor's Choice III award, and two Pushcart prizes, Laux is also the author of What We Carry (1994) and Smoke (2000). Her most recent collection of poems, Facts About the Moon (2005), won the Oregon Book Award and was short-listed for the 2006 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize. In 2001, she was invited by late poet laureate Stanley Kunitz to read at the Library of Congress.
